In the great service area of the Galbani plant in Lodi, beating heart of the Italian food industry logistics, SANO2 self-cleaning washroom has recently been installed. This public washroom – designed for HGVs drivers who cross Italy every day to deliver goods and products – represents a tangible sign of care towards workers who are often in difficulty when it comes to stops and dedicated areas. This facility aims to separate the washrooms reserved for employees – located inside the plant – from those for the HGVs drivers positioned outside: from a logistical and security choice to a gesture of care. The new installation includes an unisex self-cleaning washroom and a shower – not a mere sanitary facility, but a miniature wellness and hygienic hub, a sign of respect for those who work on the road.
Built by Prefabbricati Santerno, this SANO2 washroom is a 320×230 cm precast monobloc made of vibrated reinforced concrete (VRC); it is divided into three separate areas: an unisex washroom, a shower and a rear technical compartment. This latter allows an easy maintenance and supply of consumables, thus ensuring uninterrupted continuity of use. Access to the washroom can be made through contactless payment or mobile app, thanks to an automatic and safe system.
On customer’s request, the washroom is equipped with S4 self-cleaning technology, which guarantees a full and automatic sanitisation of washroom bowl and floor in less than 35 seconds after each use.
The washroom internal finishes combine functionality and aesthetic care, starting from the marble white porcelain stoneware. The suspended sink is made of ceramic, equipped with timed tap, vandal-proof mirror and convenient power outlet.
Even the shower area is laid out in accordance with the customer’s choices, and it is designed to offer maximum comfort thanks to several options, including: instant hot water provided through electric water heater with premixed supply, 1000 W indoor fan heater, vandal-proof and anti-scale chrome brass shower head and an automatic floor washing device that is activated at the user’s exit. There is also an HPL partition complete with a storage shelf to make the moment of rest and shower as comfortable and reserved as possible.
In humid environments, steam stagnation is easy to occur and, as a result, mould and moisture can develop. In SANO2 public washrooms these conditions cannot take place thanks to SANOSAFE® nocturnal sanitation system. Using the characteristics of ozone, an oxidising natural gas capable of eliminating up to 99.98% of bacteria, viruses, fungi, moulds and pollen, SANOSAFE® keeps SANO2 washrooms air and internal surfaces dry and disinfected. This process do not require the use of chemical substances, thus resulting as completely eco-friendly. Moreover, ozone can neutralise foul smells: it improves air quality, ensuring a pleasant and healthy experience for its users and it contributes to a “COVID-FREE” environment, hygienically safe at all times.
When it come to the job of HGV drivers, an uncomfortable reality has often come to light: the lack of adequate public washrooms for those who spend hours or even days in a row driving. In a country which relies on the punctuality of road transportation every day, this in an unacceptable contradiction. In this sense, the SANO2 installation at Galbani plant is a virtuous example. It demonstrates how even a private company can show care towards these professionals, offering them safe, efficient and, above all, hygienic spaces designed for their needs. Today, thanks to the collaboration between EGIDIO GALBANI SRL and SANO2, even logistics areas can become more welcoming and attentive to users, with services that go beyond their primary function, becoming a small but powerful symbol of care.
