Description:
A brilliant project, born from the desire to counter climate change and the will to regain public spaces previously dedicated to private mobility; spaces which once again became part of the urban fabric with a new, “dynamic” face, thanks to an amazing installation SANO2 took part in with its self-cleaning public washrooms.
We are referring to the project for the renewal of Corte vecchia in Ferrara, designed by architect Mario Assisi, from INOUT architettura, which transformed the square in a green oasis, characterized by 7 truncated conical structures, coated in cobbles, enclosing “small islands for plant communities”, where 16 plane trees have been planted. This resulted in a highly sustainable project, thanks to Permavoid technology, which channels water from rain gutters and water tanks of surrounding buildings. The water tanks, entirely made of recycled plastic, are positioned underneath the square and allow rain water to feed the irrigation system.
Together with pavement and greenery works, Ferrara Municipality has envisaged the installation of a recycling area and smart benches which allow electronic devices recharge, as well as the installation of self-cleaning public washrooms.
For this project, our state-of-the-art DIVO public washrooms have been selected, with a particular attention to accessibility issues; indeed, this model is equipped with a qr code scanner which reads disability cards. Inside the facility there is a double backrest which improves comfort for disabled users; furthermore, there are stickers written in Braille alphabet and voice prompts.
As far as coatings are concerned, our customer chose the LONDON design, made with galvanized steel panels, powder coated in “GRIGIO FERRO MICACEO (Micaceo gunmetal grey)” colour, characterized by a Led backlit decorative pattern, tailored-made for the customer with the writing “COMUNE DI FERRARA” on top.
